Qualifications
Physiotherapy qualifications are not always self-explanatory, so each one below is followed by a plain-language note on what it is.
- 1
BPT
University of Dhaka
Bachelor of Physiotherapy — the primary professional degree that qualifies someone to assess and treat patients as a physiotherapist.
- 2
PGD in Sports Biomechanics
BKSP
A postgraduate diploma in how the body moves and loads under athletic demand, from Bangladesh’s national sports institute. It is the background behind assessing movement technique and training load in sports injuries.
- 3
MDMR
Bangladesh Open University
A master’s-level qualification in disability management and rehabilitation — the longer-term side of recovery, including neurological and post-injury rehabilitation.
- 4
Certified Dry Needling & Acupuncture Practitioner
A specific certification to practise dry needling, the technique used to release tight, painful trigger points in muscle.
What this means in practice
The combination matters more than any single line. A primary physiotherapy degree covers assessment and treatment across the board. The sports biomechanics diploma adds the movement and loading side, which is what sports injury work depends on. The rehabilitation master's covers the longer arc — the neurological and post-injury recovery that plays out over months rather than weeks.
The dry needling certification is the one that maps to a specific technique rather than a field. It is the qualification behind our dry needling service, where fine needles are used to release tight, painful trigger points in muscle.
If you would like to ask about any of this before booking, get in touch — questions about a clinician's background are entirely reasonable and we would rather answer them than have you wonder.
