About Physio Motion
A physiotherapy and rehabilitation centre in Uttara, Dhaka, built around two commitments: that patients should be able to choose a physiotherapist they are comfortable being treated by, and that treatment should be based on evidence rather than habit.
Why the centre exists
A great many people in Dhaka live with pain they have simply decided to tolerate. Back pain that has been there for years. A shoulder that has not lifted properly since some forgotten incident. A parent who stopped walking to the market after a stroke. Often they have tried painkillers, rest, and advice from well-meaning relatives, and concluded that this is just how it is now.
Frequently it is not. A large proportion of persistent musculoskeletal and neurological problems respond to properly assessed, properly dosed physiotherapy — the difficulty is that the treatment has to be matched to the actual cause, and it has to be carried through rather than abandoned after two sessions.
Physio Motion was set up to provide that standard of care in Uttara: an unhurried assessment, a treatment plan the patient understands, and the follow-through to make it work.
Separate arrangements for male and female patients
This is the part we are asked about most, so it is worth stating plainly. Physiotherapy assessment often means examining a lower back, a hip, a shoulder or an abdomen directly, and asking someone to move while you watch. For a large number of patients in Bangladesh — women in particular, but by no means only women — that is the single biggest reason treatment is delayed or avoided entirely.
So the centre maintains separate treatment arrangements for male and female patients, with physiotherapists matched accordingly. It is not a premium service, an add-on, or something to negotiate at the door. It is how the place is organised.
The clinical reason matters as much as the comfort. A patient who cannot relax, or who agrees to a shortened examination out of embarrassment, gets a worse assessment — and a worse assessment leads to worse treatment. Removing that barrier improves the medicine, not only the experience.
What evidence-based physiotherapy actually means
The phrase gets used loosely, so here is what it means in practice. It means treatment choices are guided by what the research shows actually works, combined with clinical examination of the individual patient in front of us — not by whichever modality the clinic happens to own, and not by what was taught twenty years ago and never revisited.
Concretely, that tends to mean active rehabilitation carries most of the weight. Progressive strengthening for knee osteoarthritis. Graded tendon loading for tennis elbow and heel pain. Task-specific practice after a stroke. Deep neck flexor training for persistent neck pain. These are unglamorous compared with a machine that hums, but they are what produces durable change.
Manual therapy and electrotherapy have their place — often a valuable one for reducing pain in an irritable stage so that active treatment becomes possible. The distinction we hold to is that passive treatment is used to open the door, not as the entire course of care.
It also means being honest about limits. Physiotherapy does not reverse arthritis or regrow cartilage, and a clinic that tells you otherwise is selling something. What it can do — reduce pain, restore movement, rebuild strength, and expand what you can do comfortably — is worth a great deal, and does not need overstating.
Our team
Treatment at Physio Motion is provided by graduate physiotherapists. Patients are assigned to a physiotherapist matched to their preference for male or female care, and, where relevant, to the area of practice their problem falls under.
You are welcome to ask your physiotherapist about their background and qualifications at your appointment. We would rather you hear it from the person treating you than read a marketing claim on a website — and we deliberately do not publish credentials we cannot individually verify for every clinician who might see you.
What to expect on your first visit
Bring any imaging, reports, prescriptions or operation notes you have, and wear or bring clothing that allows the affected area to be examined and moved. Expect to spend most of the first appointment being asked questions and examined rather than treated.
By the end of it you should know what is most likely causing the problem, what the plan is, and approximately how long it should take. If your presentation suggests something requiring medical investigation rather than physiotherapy, we will tell you that directly and recommend you see a doctor — including when that means you do not become our patient.
Where to find us
The centre is at House-91, Gausul Azam Avenue, Uttara, Dhaka 1230, Bangladesh, open saturday–thursday, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm, closed Friday. You can reach us on +880 1715-886063 by phone or WhatsApp, and the contact page has a map and directions.
If you are not sure whether physiotherapy is the right thing for your problem, message and ask. It is a reasonable question and we would rather answer it than have you wait another year.
How we work
- Matched male and female care Separate treatment arrangements with physiotherapists matched to the patient — built into how the centre runs, not offered as an exception.
- Assessment before treatment The first visit is an examination, not a rushed session. Treating the wrong thing thoroughly still does not help.
- Evidence-based methods Hands-on treatment combined with the active rehabilitation that research consistently supports.
- Plain explanations You should leave understanding what is wrong, what the plan is, and roughly how long it should take.
