Home Physiotherapy Service
Physiotherapy at home for patients who cannot travel to the centre — available on request, so message us on WhatsApp to confirm.
Separate arrangements for male and female patients
For some patients, getting to a clinic is the hardest part of the treatment. After a stroke or major surgery, with advanced arthritis, or for an elderly patient who cannot manage stairs and a rickshaw or car journey, the trip itself can cost more than the session gives back.
Home physiotherapy is available on request — message us on WhatsApp to confirm availability for your area and schedule. Home visits depend on physiotherapist availability and location, so please confirm before assuming a visit can be arranged.
Who home physiotherapy suits
- Patients recovering from stroke who cannot yet travel safely.
- The first weeks after major orthopaedic surgery, such as joint replacement or spinal surgery.
- Elderly patients for whom travelling is exhausting, unsafe or impractical.
- Patients on bed rest or with very limited mobility.
- Advanced arthritis where transfers and travel provoke significant pain.
- Patients needing home safety assessment and falls prevention advice.
What a home visit involves
A home session covers the same clinical ground as a clinic appointment — assessment, hands-on treatment, exercise prescription and progression — using what is available in the home. In practice this is often an advantage rather than a limitation, because rehabilitation happens in the exact environment the patient has to manage.
A physiotherapist can see the real bed height, the actual bathroom doorway, the specific stairs, and the chair the patient uses all day. Transfers and walking are then practised in those precise conditions, and hazards that would never be visible in a clinic can be identified and removed.
Training the family
Home visits are also the best opportunity to train the family members and attendants providing daily care. Safe transfer technique, correct positioning to protect joints and skin, how to support walking practice, and which exercises to repeat during the day are all taught in the setting where they will actually be used.
For long-term conditions this often matters more than the number of visits. A well-trained family delivering correct daily practice will usually achieve more than occasional supervised sessions alone.
Arranging a home visit
Message us on WhatsApp with the patient’s condition, their address or area, and whether a male or female physiotherapist is preferred. We will confirm whether a visit can be arranged for your location and what times are available.
Where a patient can reasonably travel, we will usually suggest starting at the centre, since the equipment there allows a more complete assessment. Many patients begin with home visits and move to clinic appointments as they become able to travel — which is generally a sign that things are going well.
Frequently asked questions
Is home physiotherapy always available?
It is available on request rather than guaranteed, because visits depend on physiotherapist availability and your location. Message us on WhatsApp to confirm before making plans around it.
Which areas do you cover for home visits?
Coverage depends on the schedule and the distance from the centre in Uttara. Send us your area on WhatsApp and we will tell you whether a visit can be arranged.
Is any equipment needed at home?
Usually not. Sessions are designed around what is already in the home — a bed, a firm chair, a wall and some floor space. If something specific would help, your physiotherapist will tell you what and why.
Can a female physiotherapist attend a home visit?
Yes. Physio Motion matches male and female patients with physiotherapists accordingly, and this applies to home visits. State your preference when you message us.
Is it better to be treated at home or at the centre?
The centre allows a more complete assessment and gives access to equipment, so it is preferable when travel is realistic. Home visits are the better option when travelling is unsafe, exhausting or impractical.
